Dr. Semow has a private practice where she provides psychotherapy to adults and adolescents. Her interests primarily involve the application of psychodynamic theory across varied settings and its integration with behavioral based, trauma, and multicultural models. Dr. Semow also has a specialty working with eating disorders and is a certified eating disorder specialist by the International Association of Eating Disorders (IAEDP). She has provided therapy for the UCSF Mindfulness Motivation Study, which combines motivational interviewing and mindfulness to help people struggling with binge eating. As a professor, Dr. Semow is invested in fostering critical thinking, cultural sensitivity, and ethical development that prepares clinicians to meet the needs of a complex, diverse world.
Dr. Semow graduated from the Wright Institute鈥檚 PsyD program. She completed her internship at the Ann Martin Center and her postdoctoral fellowship at Access Institute for Psychological Services. She later provided psychotherapy and case management at the Healthy Teen Project in San Francisco. Her experience spans a variety of settings, including community mental health, school based, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization.
